Grade 316 stainless steel is the material used to manufacture ASTM A193 B8C bolts and provides superior resistance to corrosion; particularly against chlorides and extreme chemical exposures. Chemical Composition: The chemical composition consists of approximately 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, 2-3% molybdenum, and controlled amounts of carbon for improved durability. Mechanical Properties: ASTMA193 B8C bolts have very high tensile and yield strength (greater than a normal austenitic stainless steel). ASTM B8C bolts have a tensile strength of approximately 100-120 KSI.
