ASTM A193 B6X bolts are high-strength alloy steel fasteners designed for applications with high temperatures and pressures. The chemical composition of B6X bolts includes carbon (0.3% to 0.4%), manganese (0.6% to 1.0%), phosphorus (≤0.035%), sulfur (≤0.040%), and silicon (0.15% to 0.35%); chromium and molybdenum may also be present in the material to provide additional strength and corrosion resistance. The mechanical properties of these bolts include a quenched and tempered condition with a minimum tensile strength of 125 ksi (862 MPa) and a minimum yield strengh of 92 ksi (634 MPa). The bolts possess high toughness, fatigue resistance and moderate corrosion resistance; thus, they are suitable for use in pressure vessels, flanges, piping systems and other critical industrial applications.
