ASTM A193 B7 stud bolts are manufactured from medium-carbon alloy steel, typically having the following composition: Carbon (0.37% – 0.44%), Manganese (0.60% – 1.00%), Phosphorus (less than or equal to 0.035%), Sulfur (less than or equal to 0.040%), Silicon (0.15% – 0.35%), and Chromium (0.50% – 0.90%). Quench and tempered, these stud bolts have high strength and toughness and have mechanical properties defined by minimum tensile strength of 1,030 MPa (150 ksi), yield strength of 860 MPa (125 ksi) and elongation of 12% -15%, depending on size.
