ASTM A193 B8T Bolts are used in high-temperature and corrosive applications. The chemical composition of these materials consists of chrome (either 17% – 20% Cr), nickel (7% – 12% Ni), carbon (max of 0.08% C), manganese (max of 2% Mn), phosphorus (max of 0.045% P) and sulfur (max of 0.03% S). Due to this combination of metals, B8T bolts have very good corrosion resistance and strength. The mechanical properties of B8T bolts include solution annealing providing a minimum of 75 ksi (515 MPa) for tensile strength and 30 ksi (205 MPa) for yield strength. In addition, B8T bolts provide good toughness, are resistant to fatigue and are highly durable under high pressure, temperature and corrosive conditions. As a result B8T bolts are ideal for use in what are often called ‘difficult’ environments, including chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas and marine applications.
