Duplex Steel S31803 bolts consist of about 22% chromium, 5 to 6% nickel, 3% molybdenum and between 0.14 and 0.20% nitrogen, giving them both an austenitic and a ferritic phase or structure. The mechanical properties of these products are excellent, with tensile strengths between 650 and 800 MPa and yield strengths of 450 to 550 MPa. As such, they exhibit very high levels of pitting resistance, stress corrosion cracking resistance and general corrosion resistance when exposed to severe conditions. They are very good materials for use in the most severe applications, including chemical plants, offshore platforms, marine structures, etc., due to the toughness of the material, durability of the material and ability to carry high loads.
